Dog Ice Cream Recipe

It’s a beautiful time of year when we all love being outside with our furry friends.

After a long walk there is nothing better than sitting down and having an ice cream. We enjoy it so why shouldn’t our dogs have a refreshing treat?

Well, with thanks to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, here is a recipe for Dog Ice Cream.

It is also fit for humans but I don’t think it will be as nice as the ice cream we are used to !!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Carrot
  • 300ml Water
  • Meaty Treat Stick (Stick shaped edible dog treat)
  • Paper cups for mould

Method: (Will make about 5 lollies)

Slice up your apple and make sure all the core and seeds are removed. Chop it all up into small pieces.

Grate your carrot.

Measure out the water in a jug and add the apple and carrot. Blend until smooth.

Pour into the paper cups and put in the freezer until they are partially frozen. (About 1-2 hours). Then remove and add the treat stick and put back in the freezer to fully freeze.

Once fully frozen the treats can be taken out whenever your loved one feels hot and deserves a treat. Top tip – make sure they eat them outside or in an area where the floor is easy to clean. You really don’t want a sticky mess on your carpet or rug.

You can also make ice creams out of other ingredients such as flax seed, blueberries and meat. Just make sure they are safe for your dog. You can find lots of information about diets and recipes for dogs here.

I hope you have fun making these ice creams. If you have any comments feel free to drop me a line.

All the best

David
